Conferences

Under the lecturers’ supervision, the students of Program Studi Magister (S2) Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Untan have presented at prestigious international conferences from 2013 to 2019. Attending conferences is an integral part of formal education in this study program.

ICCTAR 2019

Nineteen students of Program Studi Magister (S2) Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Untan attended the International Conference on Creative Teaching, Assessment and Research ICCTAR 2019 at Equatorial Hotel, Melaka – (Malaysia) on 26th-28th June of 2019. The theme of the conference was “Innovations for the Future, the Wisdom of the Past”. The ICCTAR 2019 served as a platform for lecturers and students to expand their researches into innovations and showcased products. UNTAN students were supervised by two of the lecturers: Dr Yohanes Gatot Sutapa and Dr Regina. There were nineteen students who presented their research ideas in parallel sessions: Norradila, Antonia Densi Mardia Sari, Rain Lesmiati, Tampil Arindora, Atrianus Toni, Desfianur Ardhi, Martina Elvisa, Heri Kurniawan, Mildayanti, Nina Englis, Razida, Dwi Nurfianto, Syarifah Mawaddah, Halimah Tusa Diah, Hanita Oktaviani, Atikah, Gimin Yulianto, Setio Rini Try Aditya, and Novelia Meida Kusuma.

IWSI 2019

FKIP Universitas Tanjungpura Pontianak Kalimantan Barat Indonesia (UNTAN) and The Academy of Language Studies of Universiti Teknologi MARA, Cawangan Pulau Pinang (ALS UiTMC-PP) collaborated in a joint activity: International Workshop, Seminar, and Innovation (IWSI) 2019 in Pulau Pinang Malaysia on 25th June 2019. The IWSI 2019 was hosted by UiTMC-PP Rector, Associate Prof TS Dr Hisbany, and was attended by all UiTMC-PP deputy rectors. The students and lectureres of Program Studi Magister (S2) Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris UNTAN were invited to the IWSI 2019 in the scheme of Malaysian-Indonesian joint venture that was organized by ALS UiTMC-PP. The IWSI 2019 was a  one-day event that showcased two keynotes, two plenary sessions, two workshops and innovation competitions held in the vicinity of UiTMCPP. The IWSI 2019 served as a platform for lecturers and students to expand their researches into innovations and to showcase their products, prototypes and new ideas. The keynote speakers were Dr. Yohannes Gatot Sutapa Yuliana (UNTAN) and Mr. Lim Teck Heng (UiTMCPP). The plenary speakers were Assoc. Prof. Dr Hoe Foo Terng (UiTMC-PP) and Dr. Regina (UNTAN). The workshop was facilitated by Puan Sabariah Muhamad and Mr. Rasaya Marimuthu.

Three best innovation award were given to

The event was officiated by UiTMCPP Rector, Asscociate Prof TS Dr. Hisbany and witnessed by all deputy rectors.

ICoTE-2 in Pontianak

Program Studi Magister (S2) Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Untan was one of the sponsors of ICote 2nd International Conference on Teaching and Education that was held on 27-28 October 2018 in Pontianak. Taking place at Rektorat building and FKIP Universitas Tanjungpura Pontianak, ICOTE2  is intended for lecturers and students to express their ideas in the form of journal publications. The theme of the conference was “Improving Quality and Innovation in Education”. ICOTE2 presented three international keynote speakers: Prof. Loukia K. Sarroub (University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA), Bambang Sumitomo PhD. (Universiti Malaya, Malaysia) and Prof. Renelee M. Subsuban (the University of Mindanao, Philippines). ICOTE-2 also presented two international plenary speakers: Prof. Feng Guang Huo (Guangxi University for Nationalities, People’s Republic of China), Rofiza Aboo Bakar, PhD. (Universiti Teknologi MARA Pulau Pinang, Malaysia), and four plenary speakers from Universitas Tanjungpura: Drs. Sudarsono, M.A., Ph.D., Dr. Wahyudi, M.Pd, Dr. Indri Astuti, M.Pd, and Dr. Aloysius Mering, M.Pd. In this conference, students ofProgram Studi Magister (S2) Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Untan also participated as the presenters, they were Neviana Wahyuni, Lini Fitri, Kholifuddin Roma, Zulfian Rahman, Endah Woro Hapsari, Nurlisa, Sudiarto, Fransiskus Karsudianto, Karmila, Prisila Duana Intamanjana, Januari Fitri, Syarifah Aminah, Ahmad Ghazy, Fajar Aminullah, Veronika Heni, Intan Purnama Sari, Anggun Kurnia Ningrum, Syarifah Mastura, Maria Susi Suriyanti, Rezza Anugerah, Oxtapianus Tawarik, Aswanto and Ariyani.

  

International Joint-Seminar Universitas Tanjungpura-UiTM-PP 2018

The Academy of Language Studies of Universiti Teknologi MARA, Cawangan Pulau Pinang (ALS UiTMC-PP) and FKIP Universitas Tanjungpura (UNTAN) worked together in a joint seminar at Aula FKIP and S2 building FKIP Universitas Tanjungpura Pontianak on 28 October 2018. The keynote speaker of the seminar was Dr. Rushita Ismail (UiTMC-PP). Dr. Regina (UNTAN) and Dr. Mah Boon Yih & Puan Suzana Ab. Rahim (UiTMC-PP) presented as the plenary speakers. There were also a number of speakers in the seminar, namely: Dr. Yohanes Gatot Sutapa Yuliana (UNTAN), Dr. Rofiza Aboo Bakar & Puan Farina Tazijan (UiTM-PP), and Dwi Riyanti, PhD. (UNTAN). The workshop facilitators were Puan Hanani Ahmad Zubir, Puan Noor Laili Mohd Yusof, Puan Maizatul Akmal Mohd Mohzan, Puan Noor Azli Affendy Lee, Puan Muriatul Khusmah Musa, and Puan Melati Desa from  UiTM-PP. Beside presenting lecturers, this seminar also presented an alumnus of this study program, Azman, M.Pd. as one of the plenary speakers. All the students of Program Studi Magister (S2) Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Untan were participated as the participants in this seminar.

ICoTE-1 in Pontianak

Program Studi Magister (S2) Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Untan was one of the sponsors of ICote 1st International Conference on Teaching and Education that was held on 25 to 26 November 2017 in Pontianak. With the theme “Creativity and Character in Curriculum Implementation”, this program offered the students and lecturers to express their ideas by publishing their journal articles. This conference took place at S2 building, FKIP Universitas Tanjungpura. Hosted by Dr H. Martono the dean of FKIP Universitas Tanjungpura, this event presented Prof. Dr H. Thamrin Usman, DEA, the Rector of Universitas Tanjungpura as the keynote speaker.  The first plenary speaker of ICoTE 1st International Conference was Prof. Feng Guang Huo from Guangxi University for Nationalities Guangxi, People`s Republic of China. The second and the third plenary speakers were Dr. Kriya Langputeh, a lecturer in Department of Usuluddin, Faculty of Islamic Studies and Law, Fatoni University, Southern Thailand, and Dr. Haratua Tiur Maria S., M.Pd, from Department of Physics Education Universitas Tanjungpura Pontianak, Indonesia. Prof. Jayakaran Mukundan, PhD also attended this conference as the next plenary speaker. He is a professor of Education University Putra Malaysia Selangor, Malaysia. This session was ended with a presentation from the last plenary speaker, Khristine Marie D. Concepcion, PhD. She is the Dean of College of Art and Sciences Education, University of Mindanao Davao City, Philippines.

ASEAN-ELT 2018 in Melaka

Twenty one students of Program Studi Magister (S2) Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris UNTAN attended an International Conference on ASEAN-ELT2018 in Melaka at Equatorial Hotel, Melaka, Malaysia, on 15-17 March 2018. Sixteen students presented their research ideas in parallel sessions, they were Lini Fitri, Kholifuddin Roma, Zulfian Rahman, Endah Woro Hapsari, Fransiskus Karsudianto, Karmila, Syarifah Aminah, Fajar Aminullah,  Anggun Kurnia Ningrum,  Rezza Anugerah, Oxtapianus Tawarik, and Aswanto. One lecturer of Program Studi Magister (S2) Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris UNTAN, Dr Ikhsanudin was invited as a featured speaker and presented in the plenary session. Other lecturers of Program Studi Magister (S2) Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Untan also participated as the presenters, they were Dr. Sudarsono, Dr. Dwi Riyanti, Dr. Yanti Sri Rezeki, and Dr. Clarry Sada. 

ELTeaM 2nd International Conference 2014 in Pontianak

Program Studi Magister (S2) Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Untan was one of the sponsors of ELTeaM 2nd International Conference that was held on 31 October and 1 November 2014 in Pontianak. Taking place at Rektorat building, American Corner, and UPT Bahasa of Universitas Tanjungpura, the conference was attended by 323 participants from many places around the country as well as from overseas.

In one of the plenary sessions, the head of the study program presented his findings on Indonesian English expressed by Indonesian English teachers and students. Brian John Tomlinson (The President of MATSDA – UK), Hitomi Masuhara (University of Liverpool – UK), and Jennifer Uhler (RELO Officer – USA) also presented in the plenary sessions.

Beside speakers from many places, a number of students from this study program also presented in the conference. Among them are Dini Haiti Zulfany, Arsanti Budiarti, Syarah Septiani, Suparjan, Hendriek Hasan, Mita Nur Aflah, Eka Fajar Rahmani, Monita Geraldine, Kasmawita, Zuraida, and Vedyanto.

The lecturers and alumni also participated actively both as the committee members and as the speakers. Many students of this study program enjoyed the conference enthusiastically. They participated actively by raising questions and sharing ideas in both the plenary and parallel sessions. This conference is expected to provide the students with a broad view and deep insight into language and language teaching and learning.

iCLS 2014 in Kuching

Sixteen students of Program Studi Magister (S2) Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Untan attended International Conference on Language Studies (iCLS) 2014 at Riverside Majestic Hotel, Kuching – Sarawak (Malaysia) on 27-28 October 2014.

Four students presented their research ideas in parallel sessions, they were Dini Haiti Zulfany, Dji Willy, Sigit Aprisama, and Syarah Septiani. A lecturer from this study program, Dr. Ikhsanudin was invited as a featured speaker and presented in the plenary session.

MICELT 2014 in Kuala Lumpur

On 13-15 September 2014, seventeen students of Program Studi Magister (S2) Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris UNTAN attended Malaysia International Conference on English Language Teaching at  Palace of The Golden Horses, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Three students (Eka Fajar Rahmani, Mita Nur Aflah, and Hendriek Hasan) and one lecturer (Sudarsono, Ph.D) took part as presenters at Malaysia International Conference on Language Teaching in Kuala Lumpur. In the same conference, one lecturer, Dr Ikhsanudin was invited as a featured speaker.

Colloquium in Kota Samarahan (Sarawak 2013)

It is required that every student must attend at least one international academic event, such as seminar and conference, before presenting his/her research proposal in a seminar.

Most of the first batch students of Program Studi Magister (S2) Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris UNTAN attended International Colloquium and Language Carnival at University Malaysia Sarawak on 24-25 September 2013. Six students of this study program presented in parallel sessions: Mutayam, Teddy Fiktorius, Januarnita Linda, Magpika, and Marnangkok Pakpahan. Three lecturers (Sudarsono, Ph.D, Dr. Ikhsanudin, and Urai Salam, Ph.D) also presented in a parallel session. Sudarsono, Ph.D (lecturer) and Mutayam (student) were elected as two of four best speakers.

Dr. Ikhsanudin (UNTAN),  Florence Gilliam Kayad UNIMAS), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shanthi Nadarajan (UNIMAS), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ting Su Hie (UNIMAS) talked in the plenary panel discussion led by Dr. Collin Jerome (UNIMAS) as the moderator. The topic of the panel discussion was “Making Connection through Research”.

ELTeaM 1st International Conference (2012)

All students of Program Studi Magister (S2) Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Untan attended ELTeaM 1st International Conference on 16-17 December 2012 at Universitas Tanjungpura (Pontianak).

Two lecturers (Dr Ikhsanudin and Sudarsono, Ph.D) talked at plenary speakers and some talked in parallel sessions. The students of this study program participated actively by raising questions and ideas.
